Casey
This is my little man, Casey. He is 6 yrs old and such a sweetheart. He and i had a "mother/son" day today. We stood outside of Walmart and collected money for the Humane Shelter. We did really well for standing there for 2 hours. He got a lot of petting and a lot of compliments. He is very shy and was so cute.Everytime someone wanted to pet him her would hide his head behind me! I usually take Brittany for she is a very sociable dog but Casey really needs to socialize more so I took him today. We had a great day and collected lots of money for our needy animals.

the loves of my life
Well brittany did go to obedience school- three times!!! Not because she didn't learn- we actually liked it and had fun.she graduated top of her class and was often used to demonstrate things in class.well, let's talk about home!At home it is a different story. She has a mind of her own and obeys when she pleases! One thing she has down pat is the commands "sit" and "down".There is a squirrel who resides in the tree in the front yard and this tree happens to be right in front of the living room window where he can be seen by the dogs.I have named this squirrel- I call him Fred.Actually Brittany knows who I am talking about- when I mention Fred- she will look out the window.Well fred sits in that tree and taunts the dogs causing them to bark. One day I was trying to get /brittany to shut up barking so I said "Brittany, down" and she automatically laid down and shut up!That works most of the time when she barks. We went walking in the park one day and all of a sudden Brittany darts off with me on the other end of the leash!Well guess what- Fred had followed us to the park! She was taking off after a squirrel.Probably one of Fred's relatives!!!

the Loves of My Life- Brittany's adventures
Well this is a favorite picture of Brittany. It wasn't easy to get this photo but I thought it turned out good. She is such a smart dog.,but has a mind of her own.Several years ago right after I had gotten the 2 Cocker spaniels I had them out in the yard.Brittany was off leash at the time and just standing in the yard.At that time there was corn planted in the fields around the house and it was pretty tall.I was taking the puppies in and looked around and Brittany was still standing there in the yard so I proceeded to take the other 2 in and turned around and Brittany was gone!It was getting late in the afternoon.I went out and called her but got no response.I figured she had seen something and took off into the corn field.Well I went in the cornfield calling and calling her with no response- not even a bark or a hint of a movement!Do you know how hard it is to find your way around in a cornfield? It is like a maze!Well I went back to the yard calling and calling and it finally got dark.I called some of the neighbors to see if they had seen her but they hadn't.I got in the car and drove around to see if I could see her with no luck.Went back to the house and got a flashlight and back in the cornfield I went- that was spooky!!By then it was dark.No luck so got back in my car and drove all around with the window down calling her.It was around 10 pm when I got back home and as I was pulling in to my garage this little red head pops out of the bushes from the cornfield. My Brittany was home!I was so happy to see her I could not scold her.she has never been off leash again!

the loves of my life -brittany's adventures
Well some more about miss Brittany. One time i had purchased a plane ticket to fly home for a visit. Well I layed it on the kitchen counter and went to would.later I get a call at work from my housemate telling me Brittany had chewed my plane ticket and She had put the pieces in a baggie. I did not think too much about it for I thought I would just tape it together till I got home. There in the baggie was my ticket in a million pieces! !there was no way it could possibly be taped together. So,I go to the airport with my ticket in the baggie. I explained what happened and the ticket agents got
The biggest laugh! Luckily for me they printed me another ticket at no charge. Evidently the cat had jumped on the counter and knocked the ticket on the floor and you know the rest. I have learned the hard way to put things up out of the way of the animals.

the Loves of My Life- Brittany's adventures
Well I started this blog today because I am missing my dogs!!People that do not love dogs don't understand this.I have been away from my dogs a month now.Not because I wanted to.I had to come to SC to look after an elderly aunt andnshould be going home in a few days- I hope!!!!
I have three dogs-two cocker spaniels-a male named Casey and a female named Lacey and a Brittany Spaniel named Brittany.Brittany is almost 12 now.I had a little dog named Annie when I moved to Michigan. She lived for 14 years and I had to have her put down which devastated me.I still after all this time have not gotten over that.Well about the time Annie died Brittany was born.My good friend raised Brittanies and when she found out my Annie had died she gave me pick of the litter. It took me a while to bond with her because it had been so soon after Annie but she is a beautiful, smart and gentle dog.I love her dearly. She has been to obedience school 3 times- head of her class BUT---- at home she has a mind of her own!She is very smart and knows what she is doing. She obeys me to a point but if she sees something that interests her she runs-that is why she is always on a leash when I take her out.I have a fenced in area where the dogs can run and play.sometimes Brittany will run from the fence to the back door off leash.Well one day I had taken the 2 Cockers in and thought Brittany was behind me.I turned around and she was running up the road!!Well I took off after her.My house mate saw me so got in her car and picked me up.Brittany had run off into the field behind the house so we go driving thru the field in Connie's little Tracker. It had been raining so the car got stuck in the mud and Brittany kept running toward the woods.I finally caught her-all muddy with cockleburrs in her fur.Got her in the car and it took us 30 minutes to get the car unstuck!!I was so glad to get her till I couldn't scold her.
Will write more of Brittanie's adventures later.
